Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees for the Bourbonnais Fire Protection District is comprised of five members.  Each Board member must reside within the District's boundaries, and is appointed by the Kankakee County Board.  Each trustee serves serves a three year term and requires one and/or two trustees to be reappointed every year. Their terms are staggered to allow for continuity as the membership changes.  The Board serves as the District’s policy-making body, and is responsible for providing financial oversight and strategic policy direction. The Board is also active in the Fire District functions such as award ceremonies, promotional ceremonies, and many other community activities. 

The Board's regularly scheduled meetings are held on the 4th Tuesday of each month.  Meetings are convened at 4pm at the District's administrative headquarters. Trustee meetings consist of oppurtunities for public comment, approval of previous months minutes, a secretary's report, a treasurer's report, a review of bills for approval, an attorney's report, reports include a Chief's Report, a Battalion Chief's Report, a ambulance billing report, committe reports, Lexipol Policy reviews and approvals, Old Business and New Business. In the event that the District Trustees need to closed session, the agenda's are always posted with the three options that allow the District Trustee's to move into closed session.

Monthly Meetings

The monthly meetings of the board of trustees are held on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 4:00 pm.  Meetings are open to the public to attend and a public comment session (Limited to 5 minutes) is included in every meeting.  The meeting agenda is posted at least two business days in advance of the meeting at the front door of the fire station.
