As the holiday season approaches, the Bourbonnais Fire Protection District is proud to announce the launch of its annual "Keep the Wreath Red" campaign, aimed at raising awareness about fire safety during the festive season.

From November 29, 2024, to January 2, 2025, residents are encouraged to join in the effort to prevent holiday-related fires. The campaign will feature a wreath adorned with red lights, prominently displayed at 1080 Armour, Road, Bourbonnais, IL. 60914. As the campaign progresses, any incidents of holiday-related fires will result in the addition of a white light to the wreath, highlighting the importance of fire safety practices.

Why "Keep the Wreath Red"?

The holiday season is a time of celebration, but it can also pose unique fire risks. Common holiday fire hazards include:

• Christmas Trees: Ensure live trees are watered regularly to prevent dryness. If using an artificial tree, confirm it is labeled as fire-
retardant.
• Decorative Lights: Only use lights that are tested for safety. Check for frayed wires and avoid overloading circuits.
• Candles: Keep burning candles away from flammable materials and never leave them unattended.
• Cooking: Keep an eye on food while cooking, and never leave the kitchen unattended while frying or baking.

The Bourbonnais Fire Protection District encourages community members to participate in the "Keep the Wreath Red" campaign by following fire safety guidelines and sharing information with friends, family, and neighbors. Together, we can ensure a safe and happy holiday season for everyone.
